About the Archive
Why The Wellborn Archives Exists
The history of Wellborn, Texas, is rich but scattered. Valuable information is often hidden away in old books, cemetery records, archived websites, physical newspaper clippings, and personal family collections.
The Wellborn Archives exists to bring these disparate sources together into a single, accessible, and preserved digital location. By centralizing this information, we ensure that the stories of our community are not lost to time.
Scope of the Archive
Our goal is to be a comprehensive resource for everything related to Wellborn's past. The archive includes:
- People: Biographies and genealogies of residents and families.
- Places: Histories of local businesses, homes, and landmarks.
- Institutions: Records of churches, schools, and civic organizations.
- The Cemetery: Detailed records and histories of those laid to rest in the Wellborn Cemetery.
- Visual History: Maps, photographs, and scanned documents.
- Oral History: Transcribed memories and stories from community members.
Independent & Community Driven
The Wellborn Archives is an independently maintained project. It is not affiliated with the City of Wellborn, Brazos County, or any other government entity.
This independence allows us to focus purely on preservation and community storytelling. However, it also means we rely on accuracy and goodwill from our visitors.
Help Us Grow
An archive is never truly finished. We invite respectful corrections, additions, and new materials. If you see an error or have something to add, please reach out to us or contribute directly via the Wiki.
